Christmas tree shopping is increasingly moving online in Hungary, as demand for digital ordering continues to rise sharply ahead of the holiday season. Consumers are turning to online platforms not only for convenience, but also for faster delivery, wider selection and bundled services.
According to market data, more and more buyers now prefer to order their Christmas trees online. The trend mirrors the wider digitalization of everyday shopping, with seasonal products joining groceries, gifts and household goods in the online channel.
Online platforms report a noticeable increase in demand year-on-year, particularly in larger cities, where time constraints and urban lifestyles favor digital solutions. Buyers are not only ordering traditional fir trees, but also opting for premium varieties, add-on services such as scheduled delivery, and complementary holiday items.
Christmas tree vendors are expanding their online presence, integrating logistics and partnering with delivery platforms to reach a broader customer base. This allows sellers to manage inventory more efficiently while responding to fluctuating demand closer to the holidays.
This year, Wolt again offered its popular Christmas tree home delivery service. The service is available through more than 30 partner merchants nationwide, covering cities such as Budapest, Debrecen, Pécs, Szeged, Kecskemét, Mosonmagyaróvár, Cegléd, Esztergom, Pomáz, Szekszárd, Paks and Budaörs.
Over the past two years, hundreds of Christmas tree orders have been placed via the platform. The clear customer favorite remains the Norway spruce (lucfenyő), which is again available for easy home delivery this season.
