Chinese industrial giant Halms, a subsidiary of the Huashou Group, has announced plans to establish its European headquarters in Miskolc. The move includes a major automotive parts manufacturing investment worth approximately HUF 80 billion (EUR 200 million), with ambitions to create 1,000 jobs over the next decade.

The announcement was made jointly on Monday by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, and Matthew Shen, President of Halms Hungary Kft., the company’s local branch.

Halms, which opened its first European processing facility in Debrecen in 2023, specializes in aluminum alloy engine housings and components for major automakers like Volvo and Tesla. The new Miskolc facility will expand Halms’ presence in Europe beyond processing to full-scale manufacturing operations.

The company’s European HQ in Miskolc will be built in three phases, with the first completed by 2027, employing around 300 people. The facility will produce medium- and large-sized high-pressure aluminum castings, as well as precision-machined components for electric drivetrains, transmissions, and structural systems.
