Hungarian pharmaceutical manufacturer Egis inaugurated a new central distribution warehouse in Fót, north of Budapest, on October 12. The facility, located in the HelloParks industrial park, can accommodate 30,000 pallets of finished pharmaceutical products.
The warehouse covers almost 20,000 square metres, including approximately 1,000 sqm of office space, and will employ around 60 people. According to Egis CEO Csaba Poroszlai, the facility is Hungary’s largest single-space warehouse operated by a pharmaceutical manufacturer for finished medicines.
Poroszlai said the central distribution centre was developed to accommodate the company’s increasing production volumes and provide a unified logistics system for its domestic and international operations. Egis is Hungary’s pharmaceutical market leader by the number of medicine packages sold.
Egis supplies pharmaceutical products to 105 countries
The new warehouse will support a business that generated approximately HUF 312 billion in consolidated net sales during the financial year ended September 30, 2025, equivalent to around €773 million.
Egis, which operates across pharmaceutical research, development, active ingredient production and finished medicine manufacturing, supplies products to 105 countries. Outside Hungary, it maintains subsidiaries or representative offices in 17 countries, while other markets are served through distribution partners.
It manufactures approximately 7.9 billion tablets and capsules annually and sells around 225 million packages of medicines. Its main therapeutic areas include cardiovascular diseases, central nervous system disorders, diabetes and dermatology.
Pharmaceutical investments continue in Budapest and Körmend
In November 2025, the company inaugurated a new active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturing facility in Budapest’s Kőbánya district, developed through a HUF 30 billion investment financed from its own resources.
The project was one of the largest active ingredient manufacturing investments in Egis’s history and included technology designed to support production of a pharmaceutical ingredient also manufactured at a corresponding Servier facility in Normandy, France.
Separately, Egis announced an investment of more than HUF 14 billion in its Körmend manufacturing site in July 2025, covering the modernisation of production equipment, improvements to galenic manufacturing and additional storage capacity.
