Festipay closed the 2025 season with its strongest performance to date, processing nearly HUF 39 billion (approx. €100 million) in cashless transactions worldwide, as the season isn’t even fully over.
Hungary remained the company’s largest single market, with close to HUF 29 billion processed by the end of August alone. Outside its home base, Festipay continued its rapid international expansion, handling over HUF 10 billion in transactions across Europe and the MENA region.
Double-digit growth across key metrics
The total value of purchases processed through its system increased by 15%, while transaction volumes rose 7% compared to 2024. Top-up point turnover once again reached HUF 1 billion, and card-based tipping surged by 30%.
Romania continued to be a strong growth market, where events using Festipay recorded a 5.5% increase in turnover year-on-year, reaching nearly €23 million in total transaction value. Compared to 2024, events in Bahrain and Dubai saw transaction volumes jump by 36.5%, while the number of Festipay-managed events in the region doubled.
From ski resorts to Formula 1
Operations ran at full capacity across Europe and the Middle East, from the French ski season and major events in Dubai and Bahrain, to Hungary’s culinary and wine festivals. During the summer, Festipay simultaneously managed access and cashless payments at some of the region’s largest festivals, including Sziget (Hungary), UNTOLD and Summer Well (Romania).
In motorsport, Festipay served purchases at both the Bahrain Grand Prix and, for the first time, the Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring. Following a successful test period, the partnership was recently extended for three additional years.
Beyond festivals, Festipay’s digital solutions were also deployed across Budapest’s thermal baths, dozens of regional events, and nearly 100 entertainment venues. The autumn–winter season capped off with flagship Middle Eastern events such as UNTOLD Dubai and the Ushuaïa Dubai Harbour Experience.
