In 2025 a McDonald’s courier in Miskolc has achieved what many thought was logistically impossible: a doorstep delivery in just one minute and one second. The feat was the crown jewel of Foodora’s “2025 in a Nutshell” annual report, which analyzed millions of orders across six European markets.
According to the data, Hungary is the only country in Foodora’s European network, which includes Austria, Czechia, Finland, Norway, and Sweden, where Friday is the undisputed peak for app activity.
The most frequent contents of the iconic pink thermal bags were cheeseburgers with large fries, margherita or salami pizza, sour cream dipping sauce (noted as an almost universal add-on for nearly any dish).
Speed and loyalty records
While the Miskolc speed record grabbed the headlines, the report also highlighted extreme levels of customer loyalty. One Hungarian Foodora PRO subscriber placed a staggering 623 orders over the course of 2025, averaging roughly 1.7 orders every single day of the year.
The report also tracked the “first and last” of the year. The 2025 ordering season kicked off just four minutes after the New Year’s countdown, with a “Meat Lover’s” pizza ordered from Pécs at 00:04:18 AM.
The data paints a picture of a Hungarian consumer who is significantly more adventurous than their Nordic counterparts. On average, a Hungarian user tried 4.5 new restaurants in 2025, compared to just 3.0 in Finland.
While Sweden saw the year’s largest single transaction, a €2,265 (900,000 HUF) feast from a MAX restaurant, Hungarians used the app more consistently for daily essentials like bananas, milk, and fresh bakery items.
The late-night basket
Regardless of the country, orders for beer and condoms saw a sharp increase during evening hours. In the personal care category, shampoo remained the most ordered item across Europe, while roses continued to dominate the flower delivery sector.
