ChatGPT is by far the most popular artificial intelligence platform among Hungarian users, with nearly 85% saying they use it, according to a regional survey by Sophos. Gemini trails far behind at 32.4%, while AI-based translators account for 18% of use.

The survey suggests Hungarian users are not turning to AI mainly for entertainment, but for practical tasks. Research is the leading use case at 57.2%, followed by work at 38.4%, studying at 36.6% and translation at 34.8%.

The data show that AI use in Hungary is already routine for a sizeable share of users. Some 33.3% use AI daily, 35.7% several times a week and 31% only occasionally, suggesting the market is still maturing but already firmly embedded in everyday workflows.

That pattern points to a broad mix of casual and power users, with clear demand for tools that help people find information faster, write better and bridge language gaps. For business and education, the numbers imply that AI is shifting from a curiosity to a productivity tool.

Beyond usage, the survey also shows a generally open, but cautious, public mood toward AI. In Hungary, 46.6% of respondents said they view artificial intelligence positively, while 40.8% said it brings both advantages and risks.
