According to eMAG, orders for tablets jumped more than 40% year-on-year, while laptop sales increased by around 15% during the final weeks of June and the first half of July, as many households are completing technology purchases earlier than in previous years.

The average selling price of tablets ranged between HUF 110,000 and HUF 120,000, while laptops sold for an average of HUF 320,000 to HUF 350,000, indicating demand remains concentrated in the mid-to-premium segment rather than entry-level devices.

Apple dominated both categories. The 11th-generation iPad with 128GB of storage emerged as the marketplace’s best-selling tablet, while Apple’s recently introduced MacBook Neo became the most popular notebook.

Among Windows-based devices, Lenovo, Asus and HP attracted the strongest demand, with buyers showing a preference for larger 15- and 16-inch models, according to eMAG sales data.

Gaming booms during the heatwave

One of the fastest-growing product categories this summer has been gaming. Orders for gaming-related products rose by nearly 65% compared with the same period last year, reflecting stronger consumer demand for indoor entertainment during Hungary’s prolonged heatwave.

Digital vouchers for the Steam platform and Razer ecosystem ranked among the best-selling gaming products, alongside Sony’s PlayStation 5 Pro, PS5 Slim, and Microsoft’s Xbox Series S and Series X consoles.

Cooling products remain in high demand

The unusually hot summer also continued to support sales of cooling equipment. Orders for air-conditioning units increased by approximately 30% year-on-year, with 3.5-kilowatt A++-rated models from Star-Light and Manta among the most popular choices on the platform.

Demand also extended beyond new installations. Air-conditioner accessories, including airflow deflectors, cleaning products and maintenance equipment, recorded particularly strong sales as many consumers opted to disinfect and service their cooling systems following weeks of temperatures exceeding 40°C.
