After nearly two decades, the iconic sneaker retailer Playersroom will officially close its last store on September 1, 2025, and shut down its website. But this is not the end, it marks the beginning of a strategic transformation.
With a peak of 125 stores, Playersroom played a defining role in Hungary’s sneaker culture and was one of the largest local partners of global giants like Nike and adidas.
In a public statement, Gém Péter, Playersroom CEO, thanked customers and staff for their support over the years, and announced a final clearance sale offering 50–70% off all inventory on www.playersroom.hu.
The closing of Playersroom signals a strategic shift: from now on, the company will dedicate all its attention to Dorko, a domestic streetwear brand they’ve been developing alongside their community.
While Dorko has faced criticism in the past regarding product quality, the brand is tackling it head-on. According to their latest figures, Dorko’s current product complaint rate is 1.9%, just 0.15 percentage points higher than that of major global brands (1.75%).
