As Halloween nears, chocolate and gummy candy top the list of most-ordered products on Wolt Hungary, mirroring last year’s sweet tooth trend. In October 2024, one in five Wolt baskets included either chocolate or gummies, and one user even placed an order for 40 bags of Haribo on Halloween day.
Regional tastes, however, show clear differences: in Budapest, various Kinder chocolates led sales; in Debrecen, Haribo gummies took the top spot. In Szeged, Pécs, and Győr, Kinder Milk Chocolate led, followed by Dörmi sponge cakes, while gummies ranked lower.
Late-Night feasts and record orders
Halloween wasn’t just about sweets, it was also a night for party-sized food orders. The largest Wolt order came in at HUF 77,000 from Manna 0–24, followed by a HUF 60,000 McDonald’s delivery from Astoria, and a HUF 57,000 order from Pizza Me on Erzsébet körút, all placed after 9 p.m.
Wolt’s Halloween data also highlight a surge in seasonal décor and costume orders, often placed at the last minute. Among the most popular items were confetti and streamer cannons, pumpkin decorations, witch noses, or Halloween costumes.
Between August and October, demand for pumpkins and related decorations soared by 288%. The fastest recorded delivery, a hedgehog-themed autumn decoration, arrived in just 27 minutes.
