China’s auto giant Geely started passenger car sales in Hungary, opening its first two dealerships in Budapest on Friday. Geely Duna Auto and Geely Ivanics kicked things off, with Geely Schiller and Geely Autocentrum Szabó slated to follow this week.

The rollout aims for 10-15 dealers by year-end. Initial offerings spotlight new energy vehicles: the Starray EM-i fully electric SUV from HUF 12.99 million ($38,090) and E5 plug-in hybrid from HUF 14.99 million ($43,950).

Geely, China’s No. 2 EV maker behind BYD, posted blockbuster 2025 sales of 3.024 million vehicles, up 39 percent, with 1.688 million NEVs. Factories span China, US, Belgium and Sweden.

With exports hitting records (Feb: +138% YoY), Geely leverages Volvo/Polestar know-how for deep localization. In Hungary, Geely positions as a CEE hub for branding, parts and logistics.
