MOL continues to diversify oil supply to the Central and Eastern European region by a recent import of 85,000 tons of CPC crude oil and a strengthened commercial agreement with KazMunayGas (KMG), Kazakhstan’s national oil company.
The 85,000-ton shipment of Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) crude arrived at the Omišalj port in Croatia from Novorossiysk. Primarily Kazakh crude, this shipment contributes to the increasing volume of seaborne oil reaching the region.
Kazakh oil is a key component of MOL Group’s diversification strategy and is one of 14 types of oil already tested at its Bratislava refinery and regularly imported into the region. The collaboration between MOL and KMG began in 2004.
At the end of 2024, MOL and KMG elevated their relationship to a new level, becoming strategic partners to capitalize on opportunities in hydrocarbon exploration and production, technology transfer, crude oil supply, and petrochemicals.
Last year’s agreement aimed to expand an already existing partnership in exploration and production (MOL, KMG, and Chinese company Sinopec jointly produce gas and gas condensate at the Rozhkovskoye field) and to utilize MOL’s technology in Kazakhstan.
MOL Group also recently signed a commercial agreement with MVM to import 160,000 tons of Azerbaijani oil annually, equivalent to 1.5% of the total crude processed by MOL. Similar to Kazakh oil, MOL Group has been using Azerbaijani oil for several years.
