Hungary’s state-owned lottery and betting company, Szerencsejáték Zrt., reported its highest-ever annual revenue in 2024, reaching HUF 1,235.8 billion, a 26.1% year-on-year increase, with net profits climbing above HUF 50 billion and daily payouts to players surpassing HUF 2.5 billion.

The company’s pure gaming revenue, excluding payouts, rose 12.1% compared to 2023. In addition, Szerencsejáték Zrt. contributed significantly to public funds via taxes, fees, and dividends.
Online betting drives growth, traditional sales remain strong
Szerencsejáték Zrt. reported a more than 50% increase in interactive (online) sales, driven by continuous improvements to its digital platforms. However, traditional retail channels, including Hungarian Post, Lapker, charitable networks, and lottery partner shops, still generated nearly two-thirds of total revenue, growing nearly 10% year-over-year.
Record-breaking jackpots and new game launches
Szerencsejáték Zrt. reported 7,196 million-forint winners in 2024, including the Ötöslottó jackpot won twice, Scandinavian Lotto and Kenó saw record-breaking top prizes, and the launch of ”Napi Mázli”, a new daily number-based game, the first launch in over 20 years.
