With all votes tallied from Hungary’s April 12 general election, the Tisza Party has secured 141 seats in the 199-seat parliament, clinching a two-thirds majority on 70.85% of the vote and ending Viktor Orban’s 16-year Fidesz reign.
Fidesz-KDNP takes 52 seats on 26.13%, while Our Homeland (Mi Hazank) grabs six on 3.02%, per National Election Office data released late Saturday. Tisza won 96 individual constituencies and 45 list seats, Fidesz 10 and 42, and Mi Hazank all six from lists.
List voting showed Tisza with 3,385,890 votes at 53.18%, Fidesz-KDNP 2,458,337 at 38.61% and Mi Hazank 358,372 at 5.63%. Turnout hit 79.69% for resident voters and 78.99% overall, including mail-ins, reflecting high engagement in the pivotal contest.
Postal skew
Of 494,244 registered mail voters, 337,439 cast ballots with 335,595 valid. Fidesz-KDNP dominated at 84.23%, Tisza 13.82% and Mi Hazank 1.45%. The turnout rate for voters with a Hungarian address was 79.69 percent. The participation rate for all eligible voters, inlcuding mail voters, was 78.99 percent.
