Parcel-terminal operator FOXPOST is investing approximately €2 million to expand the processing capacity of its logistics centre in Fót, north of Budapest. The investment, financed from the company’s own resources, will introduce a new automated sorting line that will almost double the facility’s hourly processing capacity.
Once fully operational, the new system will be able to process 12,000–14,000 parcels per hour, compared with approximately 7,200 parcels per hour currently. The company plans to bring the new system into full operation in October, following several weeks of testing.
A 101-metre sorting line for the Fót facility
The centrepiece of the investment is a 101-metre-long automated sorting line designed to process smaller parcels at significantly higher speed and accuracy. The system uses barcode and QR-code identification, with five cameras scanning parcels from different directions before automatically directing them towards the appropriate delivery route.
The sorting process is supported by 118 chutes, serving different destinations across FOXPOST’s Hungarian network. The new system can operate for up to 20 hours a day.
