Chinese automaker Geely accounted for 76% of inquiries among the ten most sought-after models from newly introduced Chinese car brands in Hungary during the first nine months of 2026, according to data from automotive marketplace Használtautó.hu.
Its Starray EM-i plug-in hybrid alone generated approximately 1,000 inquiries, representing 61% of the total. The ten models attracted a combined 1,650 inquiries between January and September, with Geely leading the ranking following its official entry into the Hungarian market in March. NIO and its Firefly brand launched locally in January, BAIC entered in April.
Geely leads in total inquiries, but BAIC and NIO attract interest per listing
Geely’s Starray EM-i was the most frequently inquired-about model, followed by the fully electric Geely E5. Across three models, the manufacturer accounted for 76% of inquiries and 89% of advertisements in the top-ten ranking, with 236 listings.
BAIC placed three models in the ranking, while NIO and Firefly accounted for four. Although these brands had significantly fewer vehicles advertised, they generated more inquiries per listing than Geely.
Asking prices range from HUF 8.8 million to HUF 26.7 million
The vehicles listed by Geely and BAIC were almost exclusively new, with average ages close to zero and mileage generally between zero and 860 kilometres. The BAIC X55 was an exception, averaging 1.5 years of age and 17,210 kilometres.
NIO’s listings reflected a different market profile. Advertised ET7 models averaged 3.4 years old and 93,400 kilometres, with the marketplace suggesting that older vehicles may have arrived through private imports before the brand’s official launch. Average asking prices across the ten models ranged from HUF 8.8 million for the Geely E2 to HUF 26.7 million for the NIO EL6.
The BAIC X55 averaged HUF 9 million, while the NIO ET7 had an average asking price of HUF 12.3 million and a median of HUF 9.3 million, reflecting the presence of older, higher-mileage vehicles.
The ranking includes several powertrain technologies: the Geely Starray EM-i is a plug-in hybrid, the BAIC X55 uses a gasoline engine, while Geely’s E-series models and NIO vehicles are fully electric.
