Jófogás marketplace launches an instant trade-in platform designed to simplify the sale of used smartphones, capitalizing on rising consumer demand for lower-cost premium devices and the growing momentum behind the circular economy.
The new Jófogás Refurb service allows users to receive an immediate offer for eligible Apple and Samsung smartphones after answering a few questions online. Once accepted, a courier collects the device the following day free of charge, with payment transferred within days after inspection, eliminating the need for negotiations or waiting for individual buyers.
The initiative, developed in partnership with refurbishment specialist TrustPhone, reflects a broader shift in consumer behavior as soaring prices for flagship smartphones encourage buyers to consider refurbished alternatives.
Premium smartphones become too expensive to ignore
Apple’s latest flagship devices now retail for well above HUF 700,000 (€1,750) in Hungary, making refurbished models an attractive option for consumers seeking premium performance without paying full retail prices.
Jófogás itself highlighted the trend by revealing that the largest transaction processed through its marketplace this year involved the purchase of an iPhone 17 Pro Max worth more than HUF 700,000.
Across Europe, certified refurbished smartphones have become one of the fastest-growing segments of the consumer electronics industry, supported by longer replacement cycles, improved refurbishment standards and the EU’s push toward extending product lifecycles under its circular economy strategy.
From 30 days to just a few
A typical smartphone listed on its traditional marketplace currently takes around 30 days to sell. With Jófogás Refurb, that process is reduced to just a few days, as the company says the platform complements, rather than replaces, its conventional classified marketplace.
Jófogás says listings in its mobile phone category have nearly doubled since April. Apple and Samsung continue to dominate both supply and demand on the platform, while brands such as HONOR and Xiaomi are steadily gaining popularity.
Among Apple devices, the iPhone 13 and iPhone 15 series generate the highest interest, while Samsung’s flagship Galaxy smartphones alongside its mid-range models remain among the marketplace’s most sought-after devices.
The marketplace currently reaches nearly 2 million monthly users and hosts approximately 1.5 million active listings, making it one of Hungary’s largest online classified platforms.
