Hungary’s largest manufacturer of household hygiene paper products increased revenue by 12% to HUF 50.9 billion in 2025, while after-tax profit reached HUF 10.4 billion, marking a sharp turnaround from the previous year’s loss.

Vajda-Papír’s sister operation, Vajda Real Estate, which owns and manages group properties and manufactures the base tissue paper used in finished hygiene products, generated HUF 39.4 billion in revenue during 2025.

During the first six months, the broader Vajda-Papír group reported HUF 38 billion in consolidated revenue, up 11.8% from HUF 34 billion a year earlier. Consolidated pre-tax profit increased 17% to HUF 3.7 billion, while EBITDA stood at HUF 4.1 billion.

The Hungarian business sold 27,519 tonnes of finished products in the first half of 2026, an increase of 16%, while export volumes jumped 34% and institutional sales increased 13%.

From a rented garage to 140,000 tonnes of capacity

The scale of today’s operation is striking compared with Vajda-Papír’s origins. The company was founded in 1999 by Attila Vajda and his wife, Szilvia Csata Vajda. Production initially took place in a rented garage and consisted of just one type of toilet paper.

Over the following quarter-century, the business developed into Hungary’s largest household hygiene paper manufacturer by production volume. Today, the group has three sites in Hungary and one in Norway, employs more than 700 people and has annual manufacturing capacity of approximately 140,000 tonnes.

Around 60% of production is sold abroad, with products exported to more than 30 countries, as its geographic footprint extends across Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltics and Scandinavia. Products from its Hungarian factories have also reached markets in Asia and the Caribbean.

The company operates its own consumer brands, including Ooops!, Sindy and Star, while also producing significant volumes of private-label products for retailers. Launched in 2011, Ooops! has developed into the group’s flagship consumer brand.
