Lidl sold nearly 99 million liters of ESL and UHT milk from Hungarian producers in the 2025 financial year, an 11% jump from 2024, while delivering consumers a permanent range of nearly 120 exclusively domestic SKUs.

The bestseller trio alone, 2.8% ESL milk, standard UHT and 1.5% UHT without screw cap, accounted for over 60 million liters, all sourced from Hungarian farms and processors.

In FY2025, Hungarian dairy suppliers, backed by the retailer’s logistics and sales network, exported goods worth 11.5 billion forints (€30 million) to 16 European markets. Romania, Croatia and Slovakia topped the destination list, with ESL milk leading at over 13.2 million liters shipped abroad.

The chain doubled down with campaigns like the Milk Product Council’s “Milk Heart” initiative and its own quarterly promotions, urging shoppers to back Hungarian dairy at checkout. This comes atop the “Lidl for Hungarian Suppliers” program.
