Wolt has rolled out a series of courier app updates in Hungary, introducing balanced pricing across order types, automatic compensation for pickup delays and real-time heat maps to guide activity in high-demand zones.

The pricing overhaul ensures longer tasks pay proportionally more relative to time and effort compared with shorter ones, smoothing income variability so couriers can accept jobs based on preference rather than payout disparity.

For delays at restaurants or stores exceeding three minutes, the app automatically boosts the task fee, with a notification on the pickup screen and updated earnings visible post-delivery in the financial tab.

Heat maps guide efficiency

A new real-time heat map highlights order hotspots, helping couriers decide when and where to go online in Budapest, Debrecen, Győr, Pécs and Szeged, where multiple busy zones are available.

Wolt Hungary’s Hartyányi Orsolya said the updates reflect community input: “Couriers can expect more predictable earnings across order types and higher pay for unexpected delays, making every task more valuable, average hourly delivery revenue stays the same.”

A recent Wolt courier survey underscores Hungary’s partner profile: typical couriers work eight hours weekly, with 69% students or supplementing other jobs, and 86% preferring sole trader flexibility over employment.
