Online retailer eMAG is seeing a shift in Hungarian shopping habits, with everyday consumer products and accessories generating the largest share of transactions in September 2026. The change comes alongside a major logistics restructuring, as eMAG completes its transition from Sameday’s easybox parcel lockers to the GLS delivery network.
According to sales data released by eMAG on October 20, cleaning products, laundry detergents and beauty products were among the most frequently ordered fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).
Mobile accessories, computer peripherals, toys, women’s footwear and small household appliances also generated substantial order volumes, although the company did not disclose the total number of transactions, category-specific revenue or year-on-year growth rates.
Smartphones and laptops remain the largest revenue generators
Despite the increasing importance of lower-priced everyday products in transaction volumes, consumer electronics continued to account for the highest sales values, particularly smartphones, televisions and laptops.
Household appliances recorded significant sales activity, including washing machines, tumble dryers, robot vacuum cleaners and cordless vacuum cleaners. Premium coffee machines and women’s footwear were also among the categories highlighted by eMAG.
eMAG switches to nearly 3,000 GLS parcel lockers across Hungary
Alongside changes in its product mix, eMAG completed a major restructuring of its parcel delivery operations between July and September 2026. The retailer gradually transferred deliveries from the discontinued Sameday easybox network to GLS, following Sameday’s announced withdrawal from the Hungarian market.
The transition gives eMAG customers access to approximately 3,000 GLS parcel lockers across more than 670 Hungarian municipalities. The network handled tens of thousands of eMAG orders during the past two months.
The logistics change follows a turbulent period for Sameday Hungary, which announced plans to withdraw in June after its proposed acquisition by Austrian Post subsidiary Express One encountered regulatory approval difficulties.
Hungary’s parcel locker market continues to expand
GLS reached a significant milestone in June 2026 when it installed its 3,000th parcel locker in Szeged, strengthening one of Hungary’s largest nationwide parcel collection networks.
According to a GLS statement citing PwC’s Parcel Logistics Report 2026, the number of parcels delivered to lockers in Hungary increased by more than 50% year-on-year, making automated parcel collection the country’s fastest-growing delivery channel.
