Hungarian travelers are set to make Croatia a centerpiece of their summer holidays, with pre-booking data from Szallas.hu revealing a strong preference for seaside apartments, week-long stays and regional hotspots like Kvarner Bay and Dalmatia-Zadar.
According to the platform, every third Croatian booking on Szallas.hu is for the Kvarner Bay region, followed by 29% for Dalmatia-Zadar, 15% for Istria and 13% for Dalmatia-Split, with all other Croatian regions combined accounting for just 9%.
Week-long stays and small groups rule
Hungarian tourists typically book accommodation for 5 to 7 nights. Nearly a third of all bookings are for a full seven-day stay, while five-night trips and six-night tours follow closely. Four-night trips make up 13% of bookings.
In terms of group size, four-person bookings are the most frequent, representing 30% of all reservations. Two-person trips account for 19%, and three-person groups 18%, as families and small friend groups are the main drivers of demand.
Apartment preference continues to surge
Private accommodation remains the overwhelming choice for Hungarians visiting Croatia. Nearly 80% of guests are booking apartments, a share that even exceeds last year’s already high rate. In contrast, hotel bookings account for just 14% of the market.
Spending patterns and basket values
Spending remains substantial, with 35% of high-season bookings exceeding 370,000 forints. Another 28% fall between 170,000 and 270,000 forints, while 23% are in the 270,000–370,000 forint range. Just 14% of pre-bookings are under 170,000 forints.
