Hungary’s startup ecosystem has landed its first dedicated documentary, and the premiere sold out in Budapest. “Az Ökoszisztéma” aims to show how ideas become companies, companies become international businesses and experience turns into knowledge for the next generation of founders.
The film, produced by Growth Magazin, takes a broad look at the people, relationships and decisions behind the country’s innovation scene. It features well-known figures from the local startup and investment world, including Tánczos Péter, Balogh Petya, Pistyur Veronika, Biás Csongor and Kákosy Csaba.
Rather than focusing only on success stories, the documentary looks at the mix of talent, capital, persistence and community that drives the ecosystem. The production also reflects several years of research by the magazine, with the story told through the perspective of its editor-in-chief and built on deep interviews.
The project’s creators say the goal is to make the startup world easier to understand for a broader audience. That includes showing the setbacks, connections and structural dynamics that often remain hidden behind headlines about funding rounds and rapid growth.
Next episodes
The film is designed as the start of a larger documentary series. Follow-up episodes titled “The Investment” and “The Exit” are already planned, and they will track concrete business processes from start to finish.
The team is also in talks with several streaming platforms about distribution. That suggests the project may move beyond a one-night premiere and become a longer-term media property for the region’s innovation scene.
