Pizza Hut plans to expand its Hungarian network to 31 restaurants in 2027, with new locations scheduled for Nagykanizsa and Budapest, according to AmRest Vendéglátó, the company operating the US restaurant brand in Hungary.
The restaurant chain currently operates 29 locations across Hungary, including 22 company-operated restaurants and seven franchises. If both planned openings proceed, the network will increase to 23 directly operated locations and eight franchise restaurants.
Pizza Hut Nagykanizsa restaurant, in western Hungary, is scheduled to open towards the end of the first quarter of 2027, while a larger company-operated restaurant is planned for Budapest during the second half of the year.
New franchise requires at least HUF 100 million
The minimum investment required for a Pizza Hut franchise in Hungary is HUF 100 million. Franchise agreements are concluded for a minimum of ten years and can be renewed, with an initial entry fee of $32,800, alongside ongoing franchise and marketing fees equivalent to 6% of monthly net revenue each.
AmRest Vendéglátó provides franchise partners with support covering restaurant design, site evaluation, equipment procurement, staff training, marketing and operational management.
Six additional Hungarian cities under consideration
Pizza Hut’s expansion strategy extends beyond the two restaurants currently planned for 2027, with AmRest evaluating opportunities in Hungarian cities and surrounding metropolitan areas with populations of at least 50,000.
Székesfehérvár, Veszprém, Érd, Szolnok, Tatabánya and Zalaegerszeg are among the locations being considered for future restaurant openings, although no confirmed launch dates have been announced.
